This full achievement includes a crown of Baron, it is essential to emphasize that the inclusion of these ornaments does not constitute legal recognition of titles of nobility by the Republic of Malta; rather, it reflects the Office's mandate to preserve and document the cultural and heraldic heritage of the petitioners. The current Chief Herald of Arms of Malta has clarified in various interviews and lectures that, as the Constitution of Malta has not recognized titles of nobility since 1975, the legal framework allowing the Republic of Malta to register a coat of arms featuring coronets is to treat it as historical and cultural evidence of a lineage. This approach is detailed in the book [Gauci, C. The coat of arms of Gregorio Lanzagorta Llaguno, harbor of San Blas, and cigar maker in Nayarit, Mexico. This coat of arms was designed by Juan Lanzagorta Vallín and painted by me in 3 steps: 1) outlined, 2) plain colors and metals, and 3) lights and shadows. The heraldic terms «gavilla» ~ «garb» in Castilian and English. Note that the English term «sheaf» also corresponds to the Castilian «gavilla». At first, I thought I remembered that in Castilian this sheaf of tobacco had the very specific name «tonga», and that is why I initially used «tonga de tabaco» ~ «tobacco sheaf». But I discovered that «tonga» is a more local than general term, [Real Academia Española; 2014] «Canarias y Cuba: Pila o porción de cosas apiladas en orden», so «tonga» is not as general as I believed, and therefore I moved on to use «gavilla de hojas de tabaco» ~ «sheaf of tobacco leaves», although this is somewhat long, and moreover the words «hojas» and «leaves» are redundant, since these sheaves are only made of leaves—just as wheat sheaves are always made of ears, so one does not say a sheaf of wheat ears. That is why I finally use for the blazon «gavilla de tabaco» ~ «sheaf of tobacco» in Castilian and English, respectively.

The image above shows the historical illustration as it appears in the «Freiherren-Diploma Johann Anton Freiherr von Quast, 1790, Bayerisches Hauptstaatsarchiv, Königlich-Bayerisches Heroldsamt, Bd. 20-1 nr. 26, Opvallend zijn de onmiskenbare verwijzingen naar het verblijf in de West», which can be consulted on the website juchtervanbergenquast.wordpress.com and below is my current interpretation of this coat of arms. In heraldry there are two kinds of tinctures: colours, for example Gules, Azure, and Sable, and metals, Or and Argent. There is also a heraldic rule of tinctures that states not colour on colour and not metal on metal. The vambraced arm was originally Azure over a Gules field, which is colour on colour and against the rule. I corrected it with the family’s permission by changing the vambraced arm to Argent, so now it is metal Argent on colour Gules, which is correct, and Argent is a good tincture for armory. For this reason, I also used Argent for the helm and for the tips of the tournament spear. The flags also show colour on colour, but they are decorative details and not important, and changing their colours would alter the ship’s nationality, which must remain as it is. It is possible that the Azure we now see originated from the fact that the arm vambraced , the spearheads, and the helm were originally depicted as iron or proper and that over the course of time this natural greyish tone gradually turned into Azure.

Canting arms of Jan Bobor, Slovakia, emblazoned under his directions. In heraldry, the word embattled is usually enough, and even more precise terms such as Ghibelline or swallow-tail crenellations already convey a distinctive image. Yet, in this case, what matters most is not the general heraldic convention, but the particular wish of the armiger. For him, the form of the crenellations is essential because it alludes directly to a specific historical castle: Zvolen Castle in central Slovakia, with its alternating swallow-tails and arched voids. To reflect that connection faithfully, the blazon could indeed be refined to read «a chief embattled of Ghibelline crenellations», or even more precisely, «…of alternating swallow-tails and arched voids».

In Castilian heraldic tradition, the «adiestrado» ~ «tierce» used in this coat of arms and its symmetrical «siniestrado» ~ «tierce sinister» are «irregular divisions of the field by one line» ~ «particiones irregulares». That is why I use «tierce» and «tierce sinister» in English. There is another possibility, which is to call the «adiestrado» ~ «pale in dexter flank» and the «siniestrado» ~ «pale in sinister flank», thus ceasing to be a type of «divisions of the field» ~ «particiones» and becoming «ordinaries» ~ «piezas fundamentales». This has implications, as the rule of tinctures would apply if it were considered a «pale» ~ «palo». In any case, I will write the blazon in both ways. Design rationale

These are canting arms because her surname is «Peregrina» ~ «pilgrim», and her coat of arms depicts the arm of a pilgrim, as she is one herself, with her staff and her gourd for carrying water, advancing towards the dexter, in order to reach the destination of her three most important life pilgrimages: Santiago de Compostela, Rome, and Jerusalem. Following [Petra Sancta, S.; 1634; pages 417–418], in seventeenth-century academic emblematics the staff symbolizes the road understood as an intellectual journey, proper to a traveller who appears humble yet is rich in knowledge, while the gourd, which may seem empty, represents the wisdom preserved within it and from which learning ultimately emerges.

I interpret its coat of arms with: a Spanish base in semicircular (round) form; the field illuminated in Sable; the lion, its crown and its baton outlined of the field, shaded and illuminated in Or, except the claws and tongue which are Gules; and the whole with a lightly beaten metal finish.

The baton ends in a fleur-de-lis, hence it is blazoned as «flory» and according to [Avilés, J.; 1780a; página 93] «flordelisadas, se dice de las Cruces, cuyos brazos se terminan en flores de Lis».

For a time I distinguished between «flordelisadas» and «florenzadas» crosses depending on the artistic style of the termination, but over time I found that the difference was, precisely, more artistic than heraldic, so I decided to use the term flordelisada in a general way.

Some authors consider them different terms and others equivalent. If they are considered equivalent then florenzadas ~ flordelisadas and, therefore, «cetro florenzado» ~ «cetro flordelisado». In English one says «flory» ~ «flordelisado» and it can also be found written as «fleury» ~ «floretty» ~ «florenté», for example, [The Heraldry Society; 2013; página 6] uses the term «flory» to describe the very arms of The Heraldry Society when it blazons them as «Quarterly Azure and Gules a Lion's Face crowned with an Ancient Crown Or within a Tressure flory on the outer edge of the same».

Emblem interpreted as follows: oval in shape and more rounded than the original; the field illuminated in Azure; its charges illuminated in Gules, Vert, Argent, and Or, and outlined in Sable; the emerald represented by an enameled area Vert; and the whole emblem has a parchment-like finish.

The archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael are angels; therefore, I classify this emblem both under the category archangel and under angel, while Saint Michael himself is represented in it as a male figure.

Saint Michael the Archangel, in this representation, bears a shield which, at first, I blazon as the current coat of arms of Navarre, chains of gold, the original arms of Navarre being as blazoned in the armorial [Urfé; 15^th century; folio 142]: «Gules, a carbuncle Or pommelly, illuminated Vert in the centre in the manner of an emerald». This description does not suggest the presence of chains, but rather the rays of a carbuncle, nor an actual emerald, since what corresponds to the central umbo from which the rays of the carbuncle emerge is enameled Vert.

Due to my way of painting the arms of Navarre in profile, it stands halfway between a carbuncle and chains, with the outer links round like those of a chain, the central ones long like the rays of a carbuncle, and in the centre I have not drawn an emerald, but an enameled area Vert «in the manner of an emerald».
