Tierce sinister

Separador heráldico
Escudo de Castilla y León

Tierce sinister and tierce are vertical divisions of the field. I use them as translations of the Castilian terms «siniestrado» and «adiestrado». The width of the tierce sinister used to be 1/3 of the width of the field whislt the width of the «siniestrado» used to be 1/5 of the width of the field. Previously I used «pale in sinister flank» as a translation of «siniestrado», but notice that whislt «pale in sinister flank» is an «ordinary», «siniestrado» is a division of the field, and the rule of tinctures applies to ordinaries but not for the divisions of the field.

Tierce sinister is a division of the field
