I have created the seal of the National Association of Criminology Experts and Experts in Forensic Sciences for the Courts of Justice, based on its previous seal and derived from its emblem.

The shield of the seal and the emblem has the female figure of Justice. In Spanish heraldry, as demonstrated in [Valero de Bernabé, L.; 2012a; page 3] and in [Valero de Bernabé, L.; 2012b; page 25 and 26], it has a 13 times lower occurrence, 93% versus 7%, than the male figure.

Canting arms of Jan Bobor, Slovakia, emblazoned under his directions. With the wording «bearing on its dexter shoulder a sword Argent», one could imagine a version where the figure has the sword simply resting on the shoulder, without grasping the hilt. It is a possibility that could be avoided if the blazon were refined to read: «bearing in its dexter paw, and resting on its dexter shoulder, a sword Argent, hilted Or». That way it would be clearer that the sword is both held and supported, although at the cost of a longer and more complex blazon.

Design rationale

Per pale Vert and Azure represents the fields of Galicia facing the sea, with its «horreo» ~ granary and the oak leaves as symbols of Galician nature and of the values of strength and nobility of the bearer. The escallop symbolises the Holy Catholic Faith and traditional and conservative values. The sword represents Justice and the bearer’s studies in Law, as well as strength and worth. The bearer’s motto, «Nolite conformari huic saeculo» ~ «Be not conformed to this world», taken from the Epistle of the Apostle Saint Paul to the Romans, chapter 12, verse 2, expresses his personal view of life. The falcon that surmounts the helm as a crest represents sharpness and vigilance.

G0093: the coat of arms of Alessandro Giannelli and Mariana von Atzingen Gorga, of Italy, as granted by the Chief Herald of Arms of Malta and emblazoned by me for this grant. In the 2^nd quarter, a trimount color Vert can be seen on a field color Gules, that is, color on color. In many heraldic traditions, a trimount color Vert should not be placed on a field color Gules. However, this is not universal; for example, the arms of Slovakia display a trimount color Azure on a field color Gules. There are other differences between heraldic traditions: in Polish heraldry, for instance, Sable is not regarded as a color but as a neutral tincture, neither metal nor color, and may therefore be placed upon color Gules. These arms, granted by the Chief Herald of Arms of Malta to Alessandro Giannelli and Mariana von Atzingen Gorga, belong to an Italian marriage, and similar combinations can be found in the Italian heraldic tradition. One example is the arms of the family of Prince Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, author of the novel on which Luchino Visconti's film Il Gattopardo is based. The heraldic beast that gave its name to both the novel and the film is itself shown above a trimount color Vert on a field color Azure: «D'azzurro al leopardo d'oro, illeonito, sostenuto da un monte di tre cime di verde cucito». The heraldic term «cucito», literally «sewn», equivalent to the French heraldic term «cousu», also in English, indicates precisely that a color has been placed upon another color. Some heraldists use this term and others do not. I personally like to use it because it makes clear that one is fully aware of the breach of this rule. In this case, for this particular blazon, I have followed more closely the terminology published for the grant in The Malta Government Gazette and have therefore not used the term «cousu» in the text of the blazon.

Emblem interpretation with: the two-handed swords placed along the diagonals of an imaginary rectangle, with a 5x6 proportion, like a shield, that is, with angles of 50.2°, between the axis of the two-handed swords and the imaginary base of the emblem, unlike the original emblem where the two-handed swords are on the diagonals of a square, therefore with angles of 45°; the two-handed swords and the closed royal crown are outlined in Sable, illuminated and the whole with a raised-stroke execution.

This emblem of the Royal Association of Hidalgos of Spain has 2 two-handed swords that, unlike usual swords, due to their great length and weight, their fencing must be two-handed, hence their name.

The Spanish word «mandoble» comes from «mano doble», meaning «double hand», and refers to a sword wielded with both hands, the equivalent of the English «two-handed sword».

It is known that they are two-handed swords because the 2 that appear in the emblem have a crescent or crossguard in their iron. This crescent is called in Castilian «falsaguarda» and also «ganchos de parada» and its functionality is to protect from the slashes that the opponent could give close to the blade of the two-handed sword.
