In the upper row I first place the arms of the Tamburelli lineage and then the arms of the Lanzara lineage, which are canting arms, as may be seen in the lion holding a lance. Together they form, in the second row, the impaled arms of Tamburelli-Lanzara, placed beside the coat of arms of the Marquis of Prato di Arnesano. Finally, I combine them to form the coat of arms shown in the third row, where the arms of the Marquis of Prato di Arnesano are incorporated into the arms of Tamburelli-Lanzara by means of a enté en point.

This coat of arms has been rendered in two different shades of blue for the same tincture, Azure: a lighter one in the initial version and a darker one in a later version, the latter being preferred by the armiger. In any case, it should be noted that the heraldic tincture Azure does not correspond to a specific shade of blue, but rather to any colour commonly perceived as blue, except for very light tones, which are usually described as celeste.

The motto over the coat of arms, «Oruganda Rw'Abahinda», means "Clan of Abahinda", and the motto below, «Abazira Nkyende», states that their totemic animal is the monkey. This coat of arms was renewed by the Clan under the supervision of Crowned Prince Tugume Salim, and I have had the honour of refining and rendering its design. Harmonising the European rules of heraldry with African expressiveness is no easy task, yet it can yield great results.
