Coat of arms of the city of Almeria, Andalusia, emblazoned by me. In 1147, during the Reconquista, the city of Almería was captured by the forces of King Alfonso VII of León, known as «the Emperor», as part of a broader crusading effort declared by Pope Eugene III. The conquest came in response to the Almohad invasion of 1146, which had begun with a landing in Algeciras and quickly seized key territories in the south of the Iberian Peninsula. In reaction, Alfonso VII negotiated an alliance with the Almoravid leader Ibn Ganiya to organize a resistance. He met with Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Barcelona, and García Ramírez of Navarre, and together they planned the assault on Almería, which at the time was under Almoravid control. Crucial to the success of the operation was the support of the powerful Genoese navy, as well as French crusaders who had responded to the papal call. Subsequently, in recognition of Genoa’s decisive role in the campaign, Almería adopted as the central element of its coat of arms the Genoese emblem: «Argent, a cross Gules».

Armories of the Wise King of Castile interpreted by me with the following characteristics: the external shape of the coat of arms ends in an ogee arch; the field, the 2 castles, and the 2 lions are outlined and enameled in flat colors; and the texture seems fabric.

This coat of arms, but with a pointed external shape, can be seen in the 2^nd part of the so-called armorial [Wijnbergen; 1265; cuat of arms number 1,289], with the title «Le roy Despaingne», which in this context is understood to refer to Castilla y León.

The 2^nd part of this armorial was made between 1270 and 1285 and, being Alphonse X king of Castile and Leon from 1252 to 1284, it is to Him that the title «Le roy Despaingne» seems to refer.

The coat of arms of the Barrio Bajo of Mon'Tarena, Queretaro, Mexico, designed by Joaquin Haces Perdomo and me and emblazoned by me. The jaguar symbolizes power and agility and is native to the tropical forests of southern Mexico. Revered by ancient Mesoamerican cultures, it is the largest feline in the Americas and an apex predator known for its strength and stealth. Unlike the heraldic panther, the spots on its fur are not multicolored.

It is with King Ferdinand III the Saint of Castile when «the emblematic system reaches its highest degree of perfection, acquiring two characteristics: realism, which becomes a hallmark of Spanish heraldry,... and the tendency to combine coats of arms» with the appearance of quarterly divisions replacing the cadency marks used in the rest of Europe [Valverde Ogallar, P. Fernando II, King of León, «Carta Puebla de Benavente», Historical Archive of the City Council of Benavente, dated November 1167.

It is a document in which King Fernando II of León grants privileges to Benavente with the aim of repopulating this town.

The original document is a parchment measuring 60 x 43 centimeters, adorned in the upper right corner, right according to the heraldic criterion, with a Chi Rho from which hang an alpha and an omega. In what could be considered the navel of the charter is a rolled seal of the king formed by a lion, which I consider closer to rampant than passant, surrounded by a circular motto that reads «Signum Fernandi Regis Hispanorum» ~ «Sign of Fernando, King of the Spains». Additionally, this rolled seal is accompanied by the names of members of the chancery and prelates of the Kingdom of León, to confirm the grants recorded in the «Carta Puebla de Benavente».

This charter, also called the «Fuero de Benavente», is a beautiful example of local law and, since its promulgation in 1167, served as a model for other towns. In the following years, similar charters to that of Benavente were adopted in other towns of León, Asturias, and Galicia, with the one in La Coruña being a notable example.

The objective of the provisions of this charter was to favor the repopulation and settlement of new settlers in the town of Benavente, and its successful operation in this aspect led to its application in other places.

The original document is kept in the Municipal Archive of Benavente, forming part of its collection of royal privileges of Benavente. There is also a «facsimile» edition, like the one that illustrates this bibliographic reference, published in 2002 by the Benavente City Council on the occasion of the Commemoration of the VIII Centenary of the Benavente Courts.

When blazoning these 6 lions, considering that in heraldry the natural arrangement of elements is from more in chief to fewer in base, it would suffice to specify nothing more than «or and rampant». However, adding their arrangement «3, 2, and 1» can aid the reader, as done by [Avilés, J.; 1725b; page 124] and [Avilés, J.; 1780b; page 142] when blazoning the arms of Alfonso Enrique de Vick, writing «sable, and six bezants or, three, two, and one», meaning 6 ordered elements. In these sequences of number arrangements, I prefer to write Arabic numerals rather than words because, at times, the sequences can be long.

It is believed that Henry I was the first King of England to have a coat of arms, featuring a single lion rampant, but no documentary evidence has yet been found [Rabbow, A.; 1999; paragraph 8].

[Ailes, A.; 1982; page 62] argues that Henry II may have used three different versions of his arms featuring a) a single lion rampant, b) two leopards, and c) three leopards. However, it remains unclear whether these versions were used sequentially over time or concurrently. For this interpretation, I have chosen the version with the lion rampant.

Its capital is Hradec Králové, whose Latin name is «Gradicium», hence its old name «Gradec». The letter «G» seen in both the coat of arms of the Hradec Králové Region and the coat of arms of its capital originates from this historical name. The lion rampant Anrgent, double queued and crowned in the 1^st and 4^th quarters is the symbol of Bohemia, and it also appears in the 1^st and 4^th quarters of the coat of arms of the Czech Republic. «Králové» means «of the queen» in Czech and there is a trefoiled crown in the 3^rd quarter

The King of Navarre, at the time of his new and solemn coronation, is raised and lifted up as King by the hands of twelve barons of the greatest and oldest houses of the said Kingdom, and these are the twelve Noblemen who are named on the other side, with their blazons and coats of arms.

Interpretation and composition of 13 coats of arms that I have created with a parchment-like finish.

A free interpretation, for example, without the central crown over the arms of Navarre, with a different title, written «Navarra» and not «Nabarra», etc., based on the principal plate of [Bosque, J. del; 1540; folio 1 of the numbering of 1613] and with texts taken from the transcription by [Martinena Ruiz, J. J.; 1982; pages 122 and 123].

«Ricohombre», written together, currently means «title that formerly belonged to the highest nobility of Spain», [Real Academia Española; 2001].

Its plural «ricoshombres» is the most commonly used form, but «ricohombres» is also correct and used; and in [Bosque, J. del; 1540] it is written separately, and «honbre» with an «n» before the «b», that is, «ricos honbres».

Coat of arms of the Lord of South Clifton emblazoned by me. In heraldry, there are two types of tigers with specific names in both English and Castilian: the «tyger» in English I call «tigre heráldico» in Castilian, and the «tiger» in English I refer to as «tigre» in Castilian, omitting the Bengal qualifier that some authors use for the natural tiger. According to [Fox-Davies, A. C.; 1909; page 191, figures 322-325], the differences between these two representations are significant. The «tyger», or «tigre heráldico», is a fantastical animal, created from the imagination of medieval artists who were unfamiliar with the real animal but knew of its existence through distant descriptions. This heraldic tyger has a body resembling that of the natural tiger, but with a mane like that of a lion, a tufted tail, and a peculiar head that looks more like a wolf than a natural tiger. Additionally, it lacks the characteristic stripes of the Bengal tiger. Recall that the heraldic panther is also an example of a fantastical animal, breathing fire from its nose and ears and covered in colorful spots. On the other hand, the natural «tiger», identified as the «Bengal tiger» by [Fox-Davies, A. C.; 1909; page 191, figures 324-325], appears in heraldry later and is a more realistic depiction of the animal as it exists in nature.
